Patriot or fight fan? Either way Robert Downey Jr. enjoyed Condit KO of Hardy
Robert Downey Jr. is one brave man. In a sea of a 17,000-plus British fight fans, it appeared he was lone spectator who enjoyed Carlos Condit's beatdown of Dan Hardy. Earlier in the show at UFC 120, RDJ was seen on the telecast sitting with his acting buddies Guy Ritchie and Jude Law, both Brits. MMACagedoor.com got this great photo of Downey Jr. celebrating the beginning of the end for Hardy. The brash Brit ate a nasty left hook from the American and fell to his back where he took two more shots in the kisser before referee Dan Miragliotta saved him.
RDJ's reaction is also caught on Dana White's UFC 120 fight night vlog (4:25 mark).
It's also worth noting White had WBA heavyweight champ David Haye as a guest sitting next to him alongside the Octagon. It's good to see White has become acquainted with Haye. Back in July, White told Ryen Russillo on ESPNRadio that he wasn't familiar with Haye (audio - 4:28 mark). He made a smart move befriending the young Brit. Haye's a big star in the U.K. and one of the few boxers who gives MMA its respect.

Lesnar's going hunting after the fight, so the viking beard stays
"I'm keeping it. I'm going hunting. I'm leaving the next day and heading up to Canada," said Lesnar.
Lesnar is embracing his Nordic looks.
"It's cold out. I'm going to get in the viking ship and row my way up into the great white north," chuckled Lesnar.
The beard may take on a pinkish hue if Lesnar gets cut like he did in the fight against Shane Carwin. He might look like his wrestling buddies Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes when they used to slice themselves open.
Lesnar also added that he's happy to visit Canada even though that's where he experienced a lot medical missteps before his stomach ailment was correctly diagnosed back in the U.S.
"I love Canada. I've got a house in Canada. I love the hunting," said Lesnar. "I could've been anywhere and got poor service. I've been in the United States and gotten poor service."
When he first returned to fighting, Lesnar angered many Canadians by ripping their healthcare system.
UFC adds Fukuda and '205-pound Palhares' to the roster
Joe Silva's also always on the lookout to add new prospects to the UFC roster. But that doesn't mean the UFC's matchmaker is limited to adding young fighters with unbeaten records. This week he added two veterans who've been on fire recently.
Bloody Elbow reports that Riki Fukuda (17-4) is part of the UFC middleweight ranks. The 29-year-old 185-pound champ from DEEP in Japan is on a seven-fight win streak. He was last seen in the U.S. back in 2007 where he lost a close decision to Joey Villasenor on an EliteXC card in Hawaii. He's well-rounded, something the UFC middleweight division needs, and by the looks of this early fight against Oleg Bazayev, he's got knockout power. The video is hilarious as Bazayev yells with each punch he lands and then learns that he needs to protect his chin when throwing a bodyshot (0:50 mark).
Silva also hit Brazil for another squatty submission artist. Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira strongly resembles middleweight Rousimar Palhares except that he fights at 205 pounds. The 5-foot-7 fire hydrant has the same ridiculous track record when it comes to submissions as well. Cacareco (18-6) has finished seven straight opponents via submission. He'll debut at UFC 122 against Vladimir Matyushenko. What should Matyushenko guard against? Everything. Cacareco's recent wins have come by kimura, achilles lock, guillotine choke, knee bar and rear-naked choke. One problem for Cacareco, Matyushenko has never been submitted in 29 fights.
Can this fight be saved? Couples counseling with Diaz and Noons
Nick Diaz and K.J. Noons are fighting at Strikeforce this weekend after a long, drawn-out war of words (and sometimes fists.) Noons won the first fight, but as so often happens in relationships, the two fighters' families got in the way. Instead of communicating, they rely on quips to share their feelings.
Now, the two are focused on anger towards each other. Really, they're saying the same thing. Can this relationship be saved? From MMAFighting.com:
Nick:
"The thing is, I'm not mad," Diaz says. "I never was. I was only mad that he was running and not going to fight me. That makes me angry. Like, you little [expletive]. You're running around saying all this? I mean, do that all you want, but take the fight when they offer it. But now he's going to take the fight, so hey, I love that guy now."
K.J.:
"That's his opinion," Noons says, shrugging off Diaz's complaints. "And his opinion on how I celebrated the win, it had nothing to do with him. I didn't give a [expletive] about him." [...]
"That's why I don't like him," Noons [said, referring to when Diaz prompted a near brawl with a snide comment after Noons' victory over Yves Edwards in 2008]. "There were a few other incidents after that, that weren't on TV or anything, where the cops had to come and break it up. There were a few times like that. I mean, as a person, he says stuff like he doesn't think I won. But I gave the guy plastic surgery on his face. He's delusional."
The therapist says: Though the two are speaking through a veil of anger, there's still a relationship worth saving. Nick admits that he respects K.J. for taking the fight, though K.J. still harbors resentment for past incidents.
The only way these two can make it is if they put the past behind them and focus on Saturday's bout. Holding onto the past will only stand in the way of them putting on the thrilling fight that fans know is possible this Saturday.
